The Eastern Ohio and Western Reserve Associations are once again offering COACH training in conjunction with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The training will be conducted in a hybrid fashion, some sessions held at the Loyola Retreat House and some via ZOOM Call or at the Association Office, depending on your choice. Members of all Ohio Conference Associations are invited to participate. An informational flyer, an application and a special needs form are linked below.
Our coaches are used with congregational groups, primarily, although we do some individual coaching as well. We work with congregations in transition, those completing revitalization work, vision and mission statement development, flexible governance, with search committees, and in other ways as needed. The COACH model is the basis of our training.
COACH stands for C-Connection – building a relationship; O-Outcomes – helping a group develop its own outcomes; A-Awareness, Action steps, – helping the group become aware of the action steps they need to take to move toward the outcome; C-Course or Commitment – setting the course, committing to the course of action step attainment; and H-highlights – highlights or key learnings from the session. So, coaches serve as accountability partners rather than those who teach or advise.
Bonnie Bates, EOA/WRA Associate Association Minister, will train the course with Coach Coordinator, Rev. Bob Richardson. The fee for the course is $250, which includes meals and training materials. The fee is waived for EOA/WRA members in return for their commitment to a minimum of 12 hours of active coaching in the Associations.
Training begins on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 9 am and runs until 2 pm on that day. The schedule for the rest of the sessions is on the flyer. All sessions must be attended for the training to be complete. Please identify any special needs on the special needs form.
If you have any questions, please contact Bonnie Bates, firstname.lastname@example.org.
