You Gotta Be …
God gives EVERY person natural, creative talent. You just need to activate it!
BE empowered to use your natural leadership gifts to tackle those tough issues that seem impossible.
BE engaged in a new design process that will unleash your creativity.
BE effective in leading change in your home, your church, your school and your community.
You will be imagining creative solutions for such issues as:
- Interfaith Dialogue
- Criminal Justice
- White Privilege and Racism
- Sexuality and Gender
- Environmental Justice
- Human Trafficking
- Positive Body Image
NOTE: We expect churches to bring chaperones for participating youth at a ratio of 1 adult: 10 youth. Chaperones should match the gender of the participants. For example, if you have 5 girls and 2 boys, you’d need to bring 1 male and 1 female chaperone. All chaperones must complete the required annual background and reference checks. They should come prepared to participate fully in the programming, building relationships with youth from their church and other churches.
We realize that finding enough chaperones can sometimes be a challenge. We encourage you to work with other churches in your area who are attending to share chaperones between your groups. Don’t know another church that’s attending? Please contact Nicole Havelka (firstname.lastname@example.org) at the Ohio Conference UCC office to make a connection! You can also email her with questions you might have about the event.
This is a retreat designed by youth, for youth. Our creative team has been working together for over a year to learn creative leadership skills to lead this and other events.
