Original Sin is a foundational view in Western Christianity, one that has impacted not just the Church but all of Western culture. But is it the only way to understand sin? Is it the best way? Original blessing returns us to a more holistic view of humanity, one that is founded not on sin but on God’s unconditional love. It claims we have a human nature, not a sin nature. And it frees us to seek wholeness, pursue wisdom, and reflect back to others the blessing that God gives us first.
What implications would this theological shift have for your faith formation ministries? How would it change your church culture if you were not rooted in the idea and practice of blessing?
