Sadness prevails throughout the Conference but the time has come to say farewell to Pilgrim Hills! Surely the prospect of closing out the long history of your faith adventures at this cherished camp site provokes endless memories. Tears and grief are an essential part of the experience we are sharing.
Alongside the remembered friendships, unmatched experiences, and significant milestones in faith development and spiritual growth, is the conviction on the part of the Conference Board that outdoor ministry will continue to be offered but only at one Conference campsite.
You are invited to share those memories — relive precious moments from your camp experiences at Pilgrim Hill, take hundreds of pictures, say prayers of gratitude for the place and the people who have played such an important part in your Christian journey. There will be a final opportunity to say good-bye during our Farewell event. But, we will also offer you more chances via social media.
Save the date for our Farewell to Pilgrim Hills on October 7, 2017. More detail will continue to be shared on the event page.
During the evening and on Saturday, all the camp property will be open for your visit. Wagon rides to Big Rocks will be available at various times. Hikes to Big Rocks are possible any time! We welcome guests to bring a special camp craft to share — just bring craft supplies to share.
A joyful community time will take place during the Saturday lunch time. Share camp songs galore, and tell your favorite stories and celebrate the friendships made at camp while we dine together.
When we gather at Spirit Lake, there will be time for more shared experiences, and a worship liturgy of farewell and decommissioning. Guests may linger through the afternoon but are encouraged to depart the camp site before dark on Saturday.
Camp Site Director Jeff Thompson will arrange to have a silent auction of selected items and memorabilia.
Online registration will be available soon. Deadline is Sept. 22.
