The Ohio Conference UCC Board of Directors voted in June to extend the contract of Rev. Phil Hart, Designated Conference Minister, until Sept. 30, 2016 while they continue the search for an interim conference minister to lead during this time of transition.
A search committee is currently reviewing profiles of qualified candidates. More details about the position can be found on the UCC’s Opportunities Listing.
“I am grateful for Phil’s ministry and know that he is listening to God’s call on his life,” said Rev. Melinda Quellhorst, Ohio Conference Moderator. “The search committee is receiving profiles and is discerning, reading and listening to God as we move to call an interim who will work with us in the wider church in Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky.”
Hart announced late last year that he would not be seeking to renew his contract as Designated Conference Minister, a position he has held since August 2013. He is leaving this position to pursue his dream of creating an organization that will help churches become more creative and innovative in this time of incredible change.
“I believe the wider church in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky is going through an important and historic period in our history,” Hart said. “I am glad to be able to help in whatever way I can for the community that welcomed me ‘home’ in the UCC.”
The search committee asks that you keep them and potential candidates in your prayers as they discern this important decision together.
