An Appeal for Your Support of our General Synod Delegates
This year’s General Synod of the United Church of Christ will gather in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from June 21, through June 25. You may know that because of the membership of the Ohio Conference ours is the largest delegation to the General Synod.
To serve as a delegate to Synod from the Ohio Conference is a high honor. However, it is also not without cost. Though registration fees are paid for by the Ohio Conference, additional money for travel, lodging and meals is also needed. I write to ask you to prayerfully consider a gift in support of our delegates to this year’s General Synod as they serve on our behalf. It is my personal belief that one’s personal financial situation should not inhibit their call and desire to serve.
Every two years, the General Synod gathers as a faith community to represent the wider church to listen and discern the call of God to the United Church of Christ. It gathers for worship, discernment, and to steward the mission and finances of the national setting. It offers a voice to engage faith and public life as shared through resolutions and pronouncements. It is a vitally important voice to the United Church of Christ and the world as a lived expression of the Body of Christ in its remarkable variety.
I hope you will join me in making a special gift in support of our delegates as they serve on our behalf to this year’s General Synod. Your gift can be sent to the Ohio Conference, 6161 Busch Blvd., Suite 100, Columbus, OH 43229. Please mark your check “Synod Support.”
Thanks in advance for whatever you may be able to do on behalf of those who serve.
Blessings on you!
