Call for Submissions
The Annual Gathering Planning Team of the Ohio Conference United Church of Christ knows that you have a story to share. Kind of like in the now famous TedTalks, we want to hear your inspiring story — the way you brought your greatest passion for ministry into reality. We want to hear the REAL story — the hopes, the dreams, the fears, the failures and the successes. Did your church revitalize after trying for years to grow? Did you sell your church building and start afresh? Did you quit your safe ministry position to start something completely new? Why did you take these risks? What did God have to do with it? We will offer three of your stories of overcoming fear, risk-taking, learning and reward at our next Annual Gathering on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Otterbein University in Westerville, OH (near Columbus).
Here’s what we’re looking for:
WHO: We welcome submissions from lay leaders, church staff members, local church pastors, national staffers, chaplains and others serving in specialized ministries, seminary students, staff of UCC-related organizations and …
WHAT: 10-12 minute inspiring story to be presented at Annual Gathering 2016. Submit the following online application that includes a short biography of yourself, 5-6 sentences giving the thumbnail sketch of the story you would tell and a 1-2 minute video sample of you telling a story (it doesn’t have to be this particular story, but it would help.) We encourage the use of visual presentations, music, art and other media in your presentation.
The strongest applications will come from people who are willing to make themselves appropriately vulnerable and speak from the heart. (But, not sharing things you still need to process in therapy.) They should also be funny, compelling and succinct. The presentations MUST stick within the 10-12 minute time frame.
WHEN: Saturday, June 11
WHERE: Otterbein University, Westerville, OH
DEADLINE for submissions: Sunday, April 10, 2016
